History meets music at the India-Pakistan border as A.R. Rahman performs live at the iconic Attari-Wagah Retreat Ceremony for the first time.
Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman is set to perform at the iconic Attari–Wagah border during today’s Retreat Ceremony, marking a historic first at one of India’s most symbolic patriotic events.
The special appearance was confirmed by filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who stated that the event is being organised under the banner of “Jai Ho – A Tribute to the Bravehearts” to honour the courage and service of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
The event is expected to blend patriotism, music, cinema, and national pride at the India-Pakistan border, which attracts thousands of visitors daily for the famous Retreat Ceremony near Amritsar.
According to organisers, the programme will also feature members associated with the upcoming film “Main Vaapas Aaunga,” adding a cinematic element to the patriotic tribute event.
The Attari-Wagah Retreat Ceremony is one of Punjab’s biggest tourist and patriotic attractions, known for its high-energy military drill performances conducted jointly by India’s Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers every evening.
A.R. Rahman’s participation is being seen as a landmark cultural moment, as it will be the first time the globally celebrated composer performs live at the border ceremony venue.
Security arrangements have reportedly been strengthened around the Attari border ahead of the special event due to the expected rise in public attendance and VIP presence.
The live performance is scheduled to take place today during the Retreat Ceremony at the Attari border in Amritsar.
