India Nepal Relations receive fresh momentum as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar says both countries can unlock the full potential of bilateral ties after talks with Nepali Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal.
India Nepal Relations received a major diplomatic boost on Saturday after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said both neighbouring nations have an opportunity to decisively strengthen bilateral ties and unlock their full potential.
The statement came after high-level official talks between S Jaishankar and visiting Nepali Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal on June 6, 2026. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in connectivity, trade, energy, infrastructure development, and regional coordination between India and Nepal.
Speaking after the meeting, S Jaishankar highlighted the importance of stronger India Nepal Relations and emphasized that both countries share deep-rooted historical, cultural, economic, and people-to-people ties. He said the partnership between India and Nepal has enormous untapped potential that can benefit both nations and the wider South Asian region.
