Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema launched a sharp political attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after sharing a video allegedly showing Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini addressing a gathering with multiple empty chairs during an event held in Dhuri, Punjab.
Posting the video on social media platform X, Cheema claimed the visuals reflected BJP’s inability to connect with the people of Punjab despite repeated political outreach efforts in the state.
In his statement, Harpal Singh Cheema said the rows of vacant chairs at the event sent a “clear message” that BJP Punjab has failed to gain strong public support in the state. He further alleged that Punjabis are not willing to be influenced by what he described as “divisive politics, hatred, and false narratives.”
The senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader also claimed that people in Punjab have already witnessed the BJP’s governance model in neighbouring states and have “made up their minds politically.”
The remarks come amid increasing political activity in Punjab, where major political parties have intensified public outreach programmes, rallies, and organisational meetings ahead of future electoral battles.
The BJP has been actively working to strengthen its political presence in Punjab through rallies, leadership visits, and grassroots campaigns following recent changes in the state’s political landscape.
